Interested in 3D printing but don’t know how to make what you want? Learn how to go from an idea to real life. Sketch a shape in Onshape, watch it become a 3D object, then send it to the printer and hold it in your hand. Onshape is free and runs in a browser, so there is nothing to buy or install.
What you will learn
- 3D modeling basics: getting around a CAD workspace and building shapes in Onshape
- The rules of 3D printing: what gravity does to melted plastic, and how to work with it
- Slicing software: how a model becomes the layers a printer can actually follow
- Problem solving: print it, see how it came out, then change it and print it better
When: Thursdays, 4:15–6:00 PM, September 17 through December 10
Where: Harstine Island Community Hall
Instructor: Aaron Snyder
Who: Best for middle school and up. Younger kids and adults welcome too.
Cost: Suggested donation $5 per class, or $50 for the series. No one is turned away.
Bring: A laptop, or use one of the club Chromebooks.
