Christmas Play

The holiday plays at Harstine Island theater this year are adaptations of two O. Henry short stories. The Gift of the Magi reminds us that the greatest gift we give to one another comes out of love, even when that means sacrifice. The adaptation will be presented as a dramatic reading of the story and presented by one actress, Lucinda Wiita.

Mark Bucci’s adaptation of another O. Henry story, The Cop and the Anthem, features our own Monty Cobb and will be performed by an inter-generational cast. In this story,  a homeless man attempts to get arrested so he will have a bed and some food over the winter. Each attempt fails. Ironically when he quits scheming, he achieves his goal.
