About Us
Harstine Island Theatre Club was established in 1984 by the late professional actress, and island resident, Shirl Conway Larson. She wrote, directed, and produced many early plays. In the beginning the club produced many Vaudeville shows drawing from the island residents’ talent.
Over time the club has gone through various phases depending on the talents of those involved. During the 1990’s we produced massive musicals under the direction of Gene Nelson. In the years since, the club has grown from an island centric club to now include many members from the wider community.
The Harstine Island Theatre Club is a friendly, welcoming place for those who wish to explore, learn, express their creative skills, and put on productions. We welcome diversity.

This Holiday Season the Harstine Theatre Club will be performing Thornton Wilder’s play Our Town. Theatre Club November Play
Our Town – May 7, 1901. Life has begun in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. Milk is being delivered. Breakfast is on the stove. We meet the town gossips, the boys who play baseball and the choirmaster with a secret sorrow. And as they come to terms with the meaning of their lives, this Pulitzer Prize-winning American classic beautifully celebrates our own shared humanity.
